Luci Hoop Skirt and Pet Rats (PICS) SFW

This photo set, lensed by Forrest Black and yours truly in the Pacific NW, is like triple word score gothic. The creative Luci is wearing a black spiderweb hoop skirt she made, a black corset (I think she might have made this too), and a lot of dramatic black and red eye makeup. And Luci has the world’s cutest pair of pet rats!

Full series, as always, in the Blue Blood VIP.

Scar 13 Red Butterfly (PICS) SFW

Just posted this update to Blue Blood VIP and Erotic Fandom. This is Scar 13‘s 95th appearance in the Blue Blood VIP. Yes, you read thst correctly: 95th.

Delilah in Armor (PICS) SFW

Just posted this update to Blue Blood VIP and Erotic Fandom. This is Delilah‘s 10th appearance in the Blue Blood VIP.

The dollar being weak allowed the lovely Delilah and Morrigan Hel to travel to their hearts content. Forrest Black and I happened to have some armor on hand, in our shooting location, from designer Tony Swatton, when they came through Hollywood, so Delilah put it to good use.

Nice Getting Back in Touch

A very cool byproduct of working on our California Deathrock book Kickstarter is that it has helped me and Forrest Black get back in touch with a lot of people we had sort of lost track of. When general contact things went from nightclubs and zines and neighborhood punk stores to LJ to MySpace to Twitter to Facebook . . . well, a lot of people have different names on different systems and in different environments and, at a certain point, one gets a bit of SNS fatigue. It just seems so exhausting to have to reconnect over and over.

28 Hours To Go, 354 Likes, Editing Film, Deathrock Book Almost a Hardcover

I posted this update about editing the film to our California Deathrock book Kickstarter pages and I wanted to share it here too. I eventually did find the needed art pencils. They were in a pencil drawer, along with an inexplicable neurological pinwheel.

Forrest and I are getting ready to start going through contact sheets today. Thanks to our awesome backers, we know we are definitely going to be able to do the book, so we want to get a head start on editing film.

It has been so long since I got to work with negatives and contact sheets that I am having trouble finding any of my grease art pencils to mark the contact sheets with. I’m still hopeful that a search will uncover my stash, but I might have to go get a couple from the camera store. Hopefully they still carry traditional tools.

We’re going to try both the library and a coffeehouse with big tables and see which is more comfortable to go through contact sheets in.

Thanks so so so much to everyone who has supported this project so far. If we hit $2,200, the book is definitely going to be hardcover and it seems promising that it will.

California Deathrock Book Kickstarter
http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ameliag/california-deathrock-book

The really big news is that a book of Forrest Black and Amelia G’s deathrock portraiture is going to be published. There are four days left in the Kickstarter pledge period and the project has already succeeded and will definitely be funded. Pledge now and Amazon won’t charge for the California Deathrock book until the pledge period is complete.

Forrest and Amelia will also thank you in print in the book, if you pledge now. Please note that, once the book is published, it should be available via Amazon and Barnes & Noble, but the retail price is expected to be significantly higher than the Kickstarter price. Cool people who Forrest and Amelia have photographed will probably be able to get the book for wholesale pricing later, but that will be around the Kickstarter amount and without the mention in the book dedication. And it would be ever so helpful and awesome if you could get those pledges in now to make sure the book is a hardcover and has the best possible art book paper and most possible pages.

I Am On A Fire Truck (PIC)

The brand new firehouse on Hollywood Boulevard had its inauguration party and open house today. I ate hot dogs and potato chips and checked out the fire trucks. Everyone over there seemed really nice. A genuinely pleasant neighborly vibe. They had some kind of awesome bounce house stuff, with mini bounce columns inside the bounce house, but I acted like an adult, I swear. I hope the new fire engine proximity will not mean excessive siren action, but hopefully they will get the hang of where they need to be loudest and where they don’t in the neighborhood. And my place will definitely never burn down now. One of my neighbors used to be a fireman and we got excellent response time from the old firehouse, but the new one could pretty much put a fire in my place out . . . without having to exit their driveway.

5 Days to Go & Standard 468×60

5 days to go on California Deathrock book Kickstarter. Made a 468×60 banner for it. Why am I not asleep right now?

Today we start editing film!

Forrest and I are getting ready to start going through contact sheets for our California Deathrock project today. Thanks to our awesome backers, we know we are definitely going to be able to do the book, so we want to get a head start on editing film.

California Deathrock Behind-the-Scenes Photo Shoot Video

May 22, 2012 | Filed underBooks,Headline,Personalities,Video | Posted by Amelia G

It was hard to make this video happen because working on it was giving me the hugest spasm of shyness. Fortunately, Forrest Black and I still managed to bust it out. So now you can see behind-the-scenes footage of what our nightlife portraiture shoots look like, as part of the Kickstarter for our California Deathrock book project.

I love the idea of doing a creative project where I know how many to print beforehand. The way Kickstarter is set up, people pledge to get a copy of the book, but Amazon only charges them after the funding period is complete (in this case the end of the first week of June) and then only if the project is 100% funded. So far, our photo book project is 88% funded, so it looks like it is going to happen, which I am super happy and more than a little relieved about.

Special thanks to Death Guild and Release the Bats where some of this video was shot. Much love to Margo, Satoki, Thee Gabe, Domiana, Kat, Thistle (RIP), Talia, Christian, Jenn Bats, Dave Bats, Shane Taleda, Matt Riser, Eva O, and everyone else in the contact sheets and photos and video footage.

Anyway, just push play already please 🙂

Life Decisions

I’m going to be making a really huge life decision in the next 60 days. Right now, I am waiting to hear what my options are, so the ball is not even in my court. Yet I keep running scenarios in my head, trying to parse what options I want to be open to me. In a way, of course, I want to have a choice of all things. In a way, less choice might make the decision process easier.

I am kind of leaning toward making a big commitment. But closer to home than I’d initially thought I’d prefer. Apparently, I really feel like Los Angeles is my home these days and, upon examination, I just kind of like Los Angeles businesspeople better than San Francisco businesspeople. Although I do have a lot of friends in the Bay area, so it might be nice to have an excuse to visit regularly.

I’ve been in the media business for a long time, so I expect that is the industry I’ll stay in. I like people with a passion for excellence. But I prefer people who don’t believe excellence should come at the cost of one’s basic human decency. And I enjoy human warmth. Wacky, I know. But I do really enjoy the company of people who always always always try to perform in the 99th percentile. Let me just spin this around my brain again 2,082 more times. Blargh.

Right now, I’m working on developing a throbbing headache and I really should be catching a little more sleep. Tonight will be a late night.

Gothic.net Fiction Editor Position

Roche, Clint Catalyst, Maria Alexander, Poppy Z. Brite, Richard Matheson, Ramsey Campbell, and many more luminaries of the dark writing world.

–any educational background you have
–your level of proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, WordPress, and Photoshop
The idea is to provide a sense of both your qualifications and your taste.

Seeking Dothraki Wedding Planner or Swords and Sorcery Writer (Paying Market)

BlueBlood.net is looking for a fantasy expert to write about season 2 of Game of Thrones. BlueBlood.net is seeking someone who has access to HBO and is planning on watching the show and would like to write up each episode as it airs. Writer in New York time zone preferred. WordPress and/or Photoshop experience a plus. Having read the books optional, but it is essential that you never ever include spoilers. More features available if you have costuming or other production experience/insight and can write up the behind-the-scenes aspects in additional posts.

Please only apply for this if you will be able to write up every single episode of the season within a couple hours of it airing. This is work for hire. Byline possible.

To apply, please send an email to submit@blueblood.net (or use the submission form) with information on your affinity for swords, sorcery, royalty, sociology, sex in media, and/or costuming, any speculative fiction criticism/review writing credits you might have, and what your skill levels are in WordPress, Photoshop, and general blogging. Please feel free to include anything additional on why you want to write this column. Possibility of longer term regular blogging work, if your column goes well.
