Want to pull a heist with me?

Want to pull a heist with me?

by Amelia G : December 10th, 2008

Raines Jeff GoldblumI wonder if Los Angeles has more unqualified people attempt heists than the average city.

I just came in from my balcony. It is too dark tonight to see the Hollywood sign clearly. Or maybe it is too bright and the sign is overwhelmed by the nearly full moon and the holiday decorations visible on top of the Capitol Records building.

I just finished watching the Halloween episode of Boomtown. Boomtown is a long-canceled crime drama, which starred Donnie Wahlberg as a hard-driving detective with a good heart and a depressed wife. Each episode is shot from the point of view of multiple characters, who come together to show the whole story. I imagine show creator Graham Yost probably referenced Pulp Fiction during the pitch meeting. It is a sympathetic way to tell a story, such that the viewer understands where even characters at odds with one another are coming from.

Boomtown’s “All Hallows Eve”, written by show creator Graham Yost, features, in addition to a pumpkin hunt gone laugh-out-loud horribly wrong, an ambulance hijacked by a heist crew of desperadoes, dressed as cowboys, one of whom has been shot. The ambulance paramedic is one of the show’s more lovable characters, yet your heart just goes out to the lead hijacker.

The heist mastermind, Holden McKay, and his wounded brother Sam, came out to Hollywood to be stuntmen. After working as a janitor in a movie studio, Holden decides that a heist would be easy to pull on Halloween, when masks would not seem suspicious. Even though his master crime obviously failed badly enough that his brother got shot, listening to Holden explain how he could have been a janitor in Tulsa, but he came to Los Angeles for something more . . .

Bratz vs. Barbie

Bratz Dominated by Barbie

by Amelia G : December 8th, 2008

BratzA few years back, a number of members of Blue Blood sites started writing in to say someone was making dolls of various Blue Blood hotties. As I recall, Mistress Domiana and Fetus de Milo were two where there were specific dolls folks felt were based on photos Forrest Black and I had shot of them. Maybe there were other girls; it didn’t seem at all significant at the time, and the Bratz have changed enough over time that the Jury in their recent court battle (more on this soon, even though it is not technically a sex trial) asked whether they could find for the plaintiff in the first generation Bratz and against for later ones. To the best of my knowledge, neither I, nor Forrest Black, nor anyone I’ve photographed has ever met any of the brass at MGA Entertainment, the company who launched Bratz as their primary toy line in either 2001 or 2002, depending on who you ask. I guess MGA Entertainment is headquartered in Van Nuys, which is at last geographically close to Hollywood, if not culturally. So who knows.

Blue Blood hottie April Flores got in her prototype this week from Topco. The prototype is of the Wild Fire Celebrity Series Voluptuous CyberSkin Pussy. So that appears to be working out, but I’ve never really found a ton of business value in that type of merch, so I never gave much thought as to whether Bratz were or were not inspired by Gothic Sluts or whatever.

Some folks who did give it a lot of thought and were positive Bratz owed them an intellectual property debt were at the doll manufacturing and marketing powerhouse Mattell, home of Barbie. Now we could start comparing Barbie and . . .

Prohibition Party

Have you ever jizzed in your pants?

by Amelia G : December 7th, 2008

Tonight’s Saturday Night Live was hosted by John Malkovich and featured T.I. as the musical guest, but it is notable for a few other things as well.

(1) Amy Poehler is back from having her baby and she really rocked her Hilary Clinton impression and the news with Seth Myers and Amy Poehler was very funny.

(2) Not one, but two sketches featured Kristin Wiig’s enormous cleavage. If you are rereading that sentence, yeah, I notice breasts and I never noticed her to be stacked before. So I think this episode debuted either Kristin Wiig’s new boob job or some impressive new falsies technology.

(3) Almost every SNL Digital Short demonstrates that SNL is on top of their fake hair technology because I normally don’t like wigs, but Andy Samberg regularly sports spot-on counterculture hairstyle wigs. Hip hop, club kid, punk rock, rasta, or gloomy brooding synth europop like tonight and they all look pretty convincing, even to my extremely trained eye. Tonights SNL Digital Short was, in a sense, the sequel to Dick in a Box. In case this is the first time you’ve logged onto the internet this year (just got out of maximum security solitary, desert island castaway, whatever) and you are unfamiliar with the “Dick in a Box” video, “Dick in a Box” is probably the most popular viral web video after “Two Girls, One Cup” and possibly (but probably not) “Lazy Sunday”. It starred Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake singing a sweet ballad about the best gift to wrap up for your girl. The song was funny to begin with, while disturbingly catchy, but what really put it over the top was the hilarious acting and the fact that they actually had Justin Timberlake doing essentially a lewd Justin Timberlake in it. Justin Timberlake also makes an . . .

Prohibition Party

Prohibition Party

by Amelia G : December 5th, 2008

Repeal of ProhibitionHappy Repeal of Prohibition Day! So a Dewar’s ad pointed out to me that we should all celebrate the Repeal of Prohibition on December 5. I thought to myself that that was a great idea, but wondered if it would catch on. On December 2nd, Fleshbot did a feature on December holidays which included a New Years photo Forrest Black and I shot of Miss Bunny and which also put “December 5: Repeal Day: The 21st Amendment ends Prohibition” in their sexy calendar.

I got drunk for the first time at the Baptist Mission in Israel. Yes, the Baptists send missionaries to the Holy Land and so does everyone else. And my friend Elisabeth Bjerreaugaard-Pederson (who I would love to find me via Google) and I thought some of the missionaries’ kids were hot and so we drank with them, having no idea what we were doing. I got my real drinking merit badge drinking with Marines in Germany at age sweet sixteen. Blue Blood is sweet sixteen now, but Blue Blood has a curfew. Unlike sixteen-year-old me. To be honest, I’m a fan of water and, although I enjoy going drinking very occasionally, I feel the most important thing about today’s holiday is the celebration of freedom. I just don’t like being told what to do in my personal life and the Repeal of Prohibition was a win for personal liberty.

I thought it would be fun to celebrate the day with (besides drinking of course) some free sexy barroom photos Forrest Black and I shot of Rachel Face. I seem to have spent a lot of time in bars with Rachel, sometimes shooting and other times drinking. One of the things I enjoy . . .

Where is the sisterhood?

I am feminist-identified.

I got my feminism from the resonations of people like Gloria Steinem and Susie Bright and not liking what Andrew Dworkin had to say. And I got my feminism from my mother who went to Harvard at a time when they still called it Radcliffe for chicks and didn’t let them join the club and who managed to barrel through all sorts of glass ceilings, while never letting anyone see her sweat. I got my feminism from wanting to play video games in 8th grade and having the members of the otherwise all-male extracurricular not want to allow me near the school computers.

I’m the kind of woman who has had mostly male friends.

But I do not want to be the only woman in the video game room.

So I am troubled that so many women, who seem like I’d feel commonality with, are so hostile to the idea of not being the only woman in the video game room. They push other women away, wanting to be the only female who gets it, whatever it is. I find sex bloggers to be a particularly harsh lot in general, who really seem to want to believe they are each the first woman who has ever demanded her own orgasm and will support the heck out of men and faux feminism, while dissing women and genuine feminism.

I know comedian Chris Rock says it boils down to the fact that women hate each other. But do feminists hate each other? Isn’t that counterintuitive somehow? Can anything be done?

Call for Writers – Adult Bloggers

I am looking for a few additional writers who can do timely quality blog entries on adult topics.

In order to be considered, please post in response to this or use the form at the bottom of the Contact Us page at http://www.blueblood.net/contact/ and select Writer Queries.

Your application should include a list of three of your favorite girls who model for what could be considered goth, altporn, or fetish, online or in print, and what it is you like about them. This is a writing test and not a flattery test, so it is more important that you write something interesting, entertaining, or otherwise engaging about your favorite girls than that they be girls who appear on BlueBlood.com.

Win Sisters of Mercy Tickets in Los Angeles

Win Sisters of Mercy Tickets in Los Angeles

by Amelia G : November 27th, 2008

Sisters of Mercy Andrew EldritchThe Sisters of Mercy will be playing The Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008. Read on to find out how you can win tickets courtesy of GoldenVoice and Blue Blood.

In the same way perhaps that Guns n’ Roses is essentially Axl Rose at this point, Sisters of Mercy is essentially Andrew Eldritch. Having different collaborators on different Sisters albums gave different ones slightly different feels, but I personally enjoy the music on all of them. I even liked Vision Thing when all my unsavory pals derisively referred to it as the “Sisters Metal Album”. (I maintained that the Egyptian iconography on the cover made it totally gothic, but whatever.)

My friend Jeanne has been emailing me nostalgic photos recently and this made me think of of an amusing related anecdote. Uncomfortable with the goth label, Sisters of Mercy has tended to tour with potentially incongruous acts. So Jeanne and I were at some stadium show. I don’t recall all the acts on the bill, but the arena was probably the New Haven Coliseum or the Hardford Civic Center. This was pre-internet, so she and I were really enjoying the people watching and deconstructing the different tribes which had come out for the various bands playing. And looking for cute boys. So Jeanne spots this totally hot guy with dark hair and pale skin, a type we both favored, and she grabs me to point him out (I’m the forward one), only the guy disappears into some door and we can’t figure out quite where.

Eventually Jeanne figured out that she had been scoping out Sisters frontman Andrew Eldritch. Apparently he had managed to walk around the arena hallways . . .
