I was really pleased at the way Forrest Black and I were photographically able to capture the precise splashes of water on skin with this series. Shooting this gave the bunch of us an awesome excuse reason to stay in the sort of hotel which has marble showers too. Whole series in Blue Blood VIP.
I’m really happy Blue Blood is able to publish this special Erotic Fandom shoot by yours truly and Forrest Black. It stars Nicotine, making her fourth Blue Blood appearance, wearing couture from our long-time friends at Brute Force Studios, and showing off one of the new line of steampunk rayguns from Lady Clankington. Special thanks to The Death Knight for the kickass steampunk location. Whole series available in the Blue Blood VIP and well worth it, if I do say so myself. Watch for an interview with the lovely Nicotine coming up. Forrest Black also shot some video of Nicotine and the raygun’s creator demonstrating proper product, uhm, placement. Check out the photos and you’ll be able to tell where we took a break from shooting them and did the video part and then came back to the photography portion of the show. I think this is a really fabulous shoot and I’m really happy to get to share it with you all.
Szandora posted to Blue Blood VIP in a set by your truly and Forrest Black called Black Oil Cell Mask. This is the actual mask Jennifer Lopez wore in the movie The Cell. I was going to tell an anecdote about how Forrest and I came to photograph it on Szandora and on Dahlia Dark. But then it seemed boring and trivial to me, so here is a nice photograph we shot anyway.

Flavorwire ran a gallery today of portraits John Jonas Gruen shot of his artist peers over the past five decades. Apparently, East Coast artists of his generation spent a lot of time at the beach. Somehow there can be a West Coast notion that the beach is for the superficial and well-adjusted, but that is not bicoastal. Probably because you are more likely to be pensive on a chilly shoreline and more likely to show off a bikini body when the water is warm. The Whitney Museum in New York is currently show retrospective exhibition of portraits . . .

There is just such a positive sexy free energy shooting in the Pacific NW, especially with a free spirit like Luci. Like me and Forrest Black, she was just passing through town, and we coordinated via email. I want to have this soaking tub in the office. Like now.

Fabulous designer Billy from Antiseptic Fashion always knows the hotties and he knows our tastes. So he introduced me and Forrest Black to the lovely Miss Crash. We had a deadline for our regular column for Marquis and Crash was just driving through Los Angeles on her way from Las Vegas to I think San Diego. (She travels a lot.) We got together for a late night shoot and everything just came together really great. The Marquis magazine article has run, although I wish I had some copies. At any rate, so now we are fixing to post whole series of each exotic erotic couture set-up we shot. Here is a sample image from one of them. Whole sets in the Blue Blood VIP as always.
One of the most wonderful things about shooting April Flores is that she has a very artistic and experimental mindset. So when I told her I wanted to try out photographing her naked, lit only by the fluorescent paint on a hallway we had wandered through, April gamely stripped down immediately and was good to go. This is the result of our experiment. Whole series available in the Blue Blood VIP.
Forrest Black and I shot Prince Poppycock a while back. Our friend Sabrina hipped us to his excellent existence and Xian booked him for stuff. Apparently he is on America’s Got Talent and is all the buzz right now. The universe conforms more to my personal aesthetic every day. My will is law.

Blue Blood in print published a teensy bit of Richard Avery’s work some time back, but we actually met in person for the first time through Lange. Amelia G: It is pretty common for the music world to utilize both color and black and white photography, but I think it is relatively uncommon for erotica. I have this theory that all the erotic sites which utilize both are music culture influenced. From a creative standpoint, what do you like about color versus black and white?
Richard Avery: Wow! That’s a tough one. I have many thoughts and opinions on photography today, digital, color, b&w and the future. I’ll give you some of the basics… No matter what you do or use, there has to be a vision behind it. As an artist it doesn’t matter what you do or who you do. You just have to show that you know what you want and are very clear. Quality is most important. b&w or color, it just needs to be good. Today most photographers rely on photoshop tricks and forget about the subject. Tricks are for kids!!! A great photo is one . . .

Blue Blood magazine covergirl Cherry Jason is a favorite with me and Forrest Black and we all enjoyed this shoot in her home. We’ve known Cherry for a long time and she is always fun and gorgeous and cool.
