I wasn’t done sleeping, but I woke up with this weird lower back/abdominal pain I’ve been getting some mornings. Caught up on LJ. Should really put some stuff together for the Post Office and run some other errands. Need to finalize if/where I’m shooting tomorrow.
Feel like taking a trip. I don’t travel as much as I’d like to, even though I know I travel a lot.
I’m out of bacon. Maybe I should go get breakfast somewhere. Ideally somewhere with a good iced latte. Los Angeles has a lot of really great places to eat.
I have a sniffle.
Ya know, sometimes I forget just how cool my life is. I’m a problem-solver, so I tend to focus my efforts where something needs fixin’. Sometimes this makes me really effective and sometimes it just makes me really stressed.
Yesterday was a super long day and I am sooooooooooooooo sore today. I feel like I ran a decathalon. We were supposed to shoot today, but the model had a crisis last night and had to re-schedule. Which is too bad because I wanted to shoot, but excellent because now I can get an hour and a half massage from my favorite massage therapist.
I started the day doing normal business stuff. Then went to a series of seminars about online business. My pal Kayla was on one of them and was hilarious and fun as always. My close friend L who just moved here from Arizona finally got to see just how far Hollywood really is from the beach. Then I went to a poolside reception where I met some cool and interesting new people and got to see a lot of friends. I had a weird sense of deja vu with one journalist, like we knew each other from some other situation, but he was great to talk with.
Then I went to an over-the-top party thrown by one of the banking liaisons I use. They had tons of magicians and open bar and full dinner catered by Wolfgang Puck. And I just had a really good time with everyone I was hanging out with.
It has been a tough month, but punctuated by a lot of really wonderful experiences.
Find Your Polling Place & Don’t Forget to Vote
I just wrote a longer thing on Blue Blood about voting and finding your polling place, but I’m posting an abridged version here for those who don’t get around to clicking.
If you are an American, it is your patriotic and civic responsibility to vote today. Please don’t forget.
Sometimes the hardest thing about voting is figuring out where the heck to go to cast your ballot. Happily, the internet makes this all much easier. There are many resources, but one general USA source which looks good to me is Election Protection 365. I usually use the California sites, as I am located in Los Angeles. So I was pleased to find a site with such an excellent polling place locator tool for all states.
Brave people fought a revolution, and great men wrote world-changing documents, so you could have the right to representation. If people with the right to vote do not vote, then the system does not work. I’m off to drink an iced latte and review all the referendum info on my local ballot. Please, please, please take the time to vote today.
Starbucks Atropine
Apparently I am not as able to bend the fabric of space and time as I thought. Starbucks should sell Atropine to anyone wearing extra eyeliner this time of year.
I am so over-scheduled this season, it is insane. Last year, I felt sort of mopey around Halloween and I felt like I didn’t do as much fun stuff as I wanted to. I was still busy and I had some fun, but not as much as I should have. I was just having what, for a normal person, would be a Xmas freakout, only I was stressing about the perfection of Halloween, which is a little, you know, batty.
So this year I made sure I would have plenty to do. It has been very very fun, but I am like quintuple-scheduled every day and sort of have to miss something I intended to do daily. I’ve missed parties Blue Blood has sponsored, but I am definitely 100%, no matter what, assuredly going to Hex Hollywood for the actual night of Halloween. Maybe doing the street party thing during the day, but definitely going to Hex that night.
The Devil Made Me Do It

Ethereal Skull
Sometimes the things which will attract me to a photographic subject are not what people might expect. In this case, I really loved the shape of her skull. I like the ethereal quality or feel we were able to capture with this shot. More at Blue Blood.
Why is it that scumbags who want to claim a “misunderstanding” when they rip people off always want to chat on the phone? Oh yeah.
Blue Blood is the Lead Feature on Eros Zine for Halloween!
Editor Thomas S. Roche writes, “As I’ve mentioned in previous memoirs, my unholy allegiance in the Tripartite Pact of genre fiction, erotica and death rock made, in 1992, for an instant monsterfuck between the salacious vamps of Blue Blood and my overwrought brain. Back then, Blue Blood was a sumptuous, slick print zine featuring dead sexy ghoul girls dry humping each other and their tattooed fuck boys with all the abandon of a European Ferret after three pots of French Roast, not to mention erotic science fiction, sanguine but not sanguinary vampire porn, and, yes, monsterfucking, plus opinionated reviews of everything from punk shows to hardcore porn to the new Thunder Five .45 Long Colt revolver, which got extra points because you could load it with .410 shotgun shells. This, surely, was the midnight Tom Waits-Skinny Puppy wonderland come to life, with fucking.
It’s been a lot of years, now, but Blue Blood is still going strong, with a huge website collecting the counterculture erotica from all of Amelia G and Forrest Black’s web sites, including Barely Evil, Rubber Dollies, and Gothic Sluts. What’s more, Blue Blood now offers an extensive array of message boards, turning it into a true online community.
Amelia recently lured me to a dark alley to discuss the counterculture and get cranky.”

I got that drunk womanizer blogger’s book at one of the airports I was at recently.
Has anyone ever gotten a book deal from posting on LJ or do people not view that as really blogging?
I Make People Look Good When I Photograph Them
It kind of bothers me when people respond to a picture post I make with something along the lines of how the photographic subject is so hot that it would not be possible to make them look bad. It makes me want to post unflattering photos of people or direct folks to any tabloid on the stands. Angelina Jolie is pretty hot, but any trip to the supermarket will point out that it is in fact possible for her to look bad in a picture.
The photographer actually makes a difference. And, even with a great photographer and a great subject, not every image is a winner.
One of the reasons people want to shoot with me and Forrest Black is that we make people look good. It is part of my artistic vision to do so and it makes a difference if Forrest and I are behind the lens or some GWC.
If a person posts a picture of themselves, then it makes sense to make “you are hot” types of responses, but here is a tip: If the photographer posted the image, they might prefer some comments on the photograph, rather than comments on how much you’d like to fuck the person in it.

Just posted this in a community, so thought I’d post it here too.
A feather collar is sort of like an animal print, isn’t it? 😉
