After a surreal day of attending first the Bay Pay Forum on the future of banking and digital currencies, following by a private Wells Fargo event at the Beverly Wilshire, I felt like I could finally exhale and relax when Forrest Black and I arrived at the gallery opening for the art showing at…( Read more )

Aiden Starr: Rise of the Machines by Amelia G on Blue Blood
Also, via Sexy Fandom, is this update from the nice people at Effing Machines (super duper not in the SFW category, like super uper duper not). The always intense Aiden Starr takes on every machine in The Armory arsenal here.
I loathe puns. I really loathe puns. Except for sex puns. I think…( Read more )
I Am On A Fire Truck (PIC)
The brand new firehouse on Hollywood Boulevard had its inauguration party and open house today. I ate hot dogs and potato chips and checked out the fire trucks. Everyone over there seemed really nice. A genuinely pleasant neighborly vibe. They had some kind of awesome bounce house stuff, with mini bounce columns inside the bounce house, but I acted like an adult, I swear. I hope the new fire engine proximity will not mean excessive siren action, but hopefully they will get the hang of where they need to be loudest and where they don’t in the neighborhood. And my place will definitely never burn down now. One of my neighbors used to be a fireman and we got excellent response time from the old firehouse, but the new one could pretty much put a fire in my place out . . . without having to exit their driveway.
New Years for DBags and Zoning for Uncool People (PICS)
(1) I celebrate NYE as a time for reflection.
(2) I swear the event below is going on across the street from me right now. Pretty sure it is past closing time now. Bonus points for drunk douches fighting on the sidewalk in front and being able to hear every thump of their abysmal dubstep in my living room. I think one of my New Year’s resolutions is going to be to find out who to report this to. I can roll with the occasional disturbance, but this place is (a) causing a public nuisance multiple days every week and (b) attracting uncool people to my neighborhood. I live in Hollywood, so I’m sure we must have zoning rules about venues which appeal to uncool people.
Happy New Year’s, everyone! May your 2012 be everything you hope for and dream of.
Los Angeles Noir (PICS)
These palm trees and city lights, under a menacing sky, are the view from my balcony in Hollywood right now. This shot only begins to show the roiling black clouds, like a powerful wizard is about to do something unusual to Los Angeles. Went hiking earlier today with Forrest Black and got totally soaked. The park was so empty and beautiful. There was one rugged soul out there with a camera on tripod trying to shoot the fog. And one woman in really nice boots, not shoes for walking in mud at all, much better suited for neon-lit and preferably not rain-soaked streets. My own personal, delightfully damp Los Angeles noir.
