Vegas Pix

Got a couple more days of my Vegas pix posted. I’m very amused by the pic of Forrest and his sister because you can so totally see the family resemblance there. I so need one of those Snoop-style cups.

I really want to post about my weekend so far, but I don’t think I can. Friday was kind of humorous and I got to see that being evil and unoriginal actually does make thieves unhappy. Saturday was awesome. At least I got to tell some friends about it with my actual speaking voice, but I wish I could post it here, it was so fucking cool. I like the idea of keeping a journal online because my friends are geographically all over the place, but putting thoughts and feelings on the internet is too much like publishing and I have venues for publishing already. The internet makes the conflict between the public and the private really frustrating for a much larger segment of the population than ever had to be concerned about it before.

So, you read my journal for inpiration…

Do you have a technical question about Blue Blood? If you’ve been wondering (or someone you work for has been wondering) about how Blue Blood does all the great things Blue Blood does, you can find a detailed explanation of all the technology and philosophy you need to know in order to bite on our critically-acclaimed formula at this link. This applies to everything from photography to writing to publishing a print magazine or a popular website.

Slippery When Wet

All right, if the first thing you thought of reading that title was a musical reference, then you will probably be entertained by the newest update to Blue Blood’s BarelyEvil.com.

New Dana Dark Photo Set, Art Supplies, Sex, Drugs, Office Supplies

Just posted a new Dana Dark photo set to Blue Blood’s GothicSluts.com. Was thinking about her, so it seemed like a perfect time to work on getting a set live. There is so much stuff I’ve shot that I want to show people. Just not enough hours in the day. Not to mention the crazy bandwidth all our stuff runs through every month. Shopping for way too much equipment all at once right now. I need to get another server and new lights and a new camera and and and. Why, oh, why are art supplies not free like sex, drugs, and office supplies?

Meme Quiz Question Thingie: FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL

Meme question thing snarfed from spikyme and edited for one question I didn’t feel like answering and one I totally didn’t understand.

FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL

[What were your three favorite bands?]
Rush, AC/DC, Foreigner

[What was your favorite outfit?]
Colored Calvin Klein jeans and funky old tops that used to be my mom’s

[What was up with your hair?]
Big, half-assedly dyed, sort of feathered in front, a lot like it is now

[What did you do after school?]
Play Tunnels & Trolls (like D&D but superior in playability in my estimation at the time), drink, ride my bicycle, make out, do homework, write, go to the beach, go to the Ambassador’s pool, go to bars/cafes, go to parties, plan social events

[Where did you work?]
I was 14 and living overseas. I didn’t have a job.

[Did you take the bus?]
Sometimes, but it came pretty early in the morning, so sometimes I walked briskly instead and sometimes my parents gave me a ride

[Who did you have a crush on?]
A different person or six every month or two for the most part, especially a guy with the Australian embassy a year behind me named Martin Grellis and a guy whose stepdad did some sort of shady military consulting or something a year ahead of me named (depending on who you asked) either David Morehead or David Calloway (Man, both of them are going to Google themselves and find this . . .)

[Did you fight with your parents?]
No. Sometimes we had heated discussions about staying out late in degenerate places, but generally it was all fine once I got my grades up and kept them up.

[Who did you have a CELEBRITY crush on?]
No one. We didn’t really get American or English language media there.

[Did you smoke cigarettes?]
No, but I kind of liked what they smelled like at the time.

[Did you lug all of your books around in your backpack all day because you were too nervous to find your locker?]
No.

[Did you have a ‘clique’?]
No. My school was very small and it was pretty doable to move around amongst various social circles with varied interests. (And look how I turned out)

[Admit it, were you popular?]
Probably. I was new in school that year and was class president the following year there.

[Who did you want to be just like?]
Whoever my true self was, once I figured that out.

[What did you want to be when you grew up?]
Famous writer, senator, and nude model.

[Where did you think you’d be at the age you are now?]
High powered corporate exec or attorney, famous writer, senator, and nude model.

[What advice would you give your freshman self?]
Your parents do not know all the answers to life, the universe, and everything and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you’ll be able to figure out your own answers.

Thanks!

Thanks so much everyone for your help on the bio picture thing. It is much appreciated. Following you all’s suggestions, I ended up going with a more contrasty version of shot number one.

Here is the final bio I went with. Bios always feel weird to me, even if someone else writes them. I can do kickass jobs of writing them for other people, but I always need help writing one for myself.

Amelia G is an editor, writer, and photographer best known for founding Blue Blood the seminal magazine of counterculture erotica. In the early 90’s, Blue Blood challenged conventional concepts of beauty and sexuality in print. Online, Blue Blood has achieved those goals and more. Amelia G has enjoyed great success transitioning her brand to the web and now helms an extended network of entertainment sites of both the naughty and nonnaughty variety. Standouts include the BlueBlood.net cultural hub, SpookyCash.com affiliate program, and GothicSluts.com and BarelyEvil.com membership sites. Her fiction has been honored with inclusion in Best American Erotica, Best SM Erotica, and Best Women’s Erotica. With her creative partner Forrest Black, she has created culturally important projects in multiple medias. Their work has been featured in numerous magazine cover stories, newspapers, webcasts, radio and television stations from FOX to MTV. Amelia G was born in London and, having lived all over the world, now makes her home in Los Angeles. She likes pretty boys, pretty girls, iced lattes, pinstripes, and original ideas.

I’m sending a photo in for a bio thing. Which of these pics should I use?

Miss Bunny

I realize that any time I post someone I’m working with here, a bunch of people start cozying up to that person, that person’s boyfriend/girlfriend/kids/mom/boss/business partners etc. In this instance, I hope that at least a few of the biters are decent photographers because Miss Bunny deserves that.

New update to Blue Blood’s GothicSluts.com with Miss Bunny, as well as new Aprella and a whole lot of Darenzia. This sexy series of Bunny will also appear on MissBunny.com

I’d like to sound more chipper, but other people are really getting on my nerves this week. Not Bunny. Bunny is awesome and you should all join her site and please bite on me shooting her with tons of content trade work.

But I’ve been thinking a lot about my original motivations in publishing. I wasn’t even a photographer at the beginning. I just wanted to create the best possible venues for all the amazing cool creative people I knew to share their amazingness with the world.

But most people are actually just a bunch of fucking whiners. You don’t want opportunties. It actually pisses you off to get opportunities handed to you. You want someone to blame for your own laziness. If you can’t take a meeting, answer a phone call, make a deadline, update your site or anyone else’s, remember to renew your domains, think of an original concept, or create fucking anything, then that is your fault. If the only way you get ideas is by watching what I do and copying it in some cartoonish half-assed way, then that is your fault.

I used to feel bad that there were people who hated me at the same time they were trying to be me. I couldn’t understand how they could dislike what they wanted to be. Guess envy is just not really in my vocabulary. So, as part of my resolutions for 2005, you don’t want to have a problem, then I don’t want to have a problem . . . but, if you want to have a totally unjustified problem, here is something you are cordially invited to hate me for: I’m better than you because I had more talent to being with and I work much much much much much harder than you do and you are just not a good enough person.

I feel sad

It is probably just the combo of pms and pressure of coming home from an exciting trip to an overwhelming pile of work. Plus I can’t drive on my ankle yet and that just didn’t seem like a problem in big hotels in Vegas.

Vegas, Baby, Vegas

I am so not ready for Vegas. Last year, I had this whole little itinerary of what parties were being thrown by who and when. Oddly, this year, I was invited to the one party I really wanted an invite to last year that I didn’t get. A lot of the stuff I wanted to hit last year I missed and I ended up going to a lot of other cool stuff, so it will all pan out I’m sure.

Feeling a little stressed anyway. Trying to get ready while I am hobbling around. Getting pretty good with either one crutch or no crutches though, just still using the brace.

If you are on my friends list and will be in Vegas, please let me know.

I have to go get help picking up my car now. It need fucking $1,000 dollars in upkeep stuff. Damn it. That will teach me to never ever change the oil.

Yay!

I’ve managed to do a bit of Igor style walking with no crutches and a lot of walking with one crutch.

Just finished doing some contracty work stuff which I am really happy to check off my to do list. HUGE thank you to Kumi, Darenzia, Julie Simone, and everyone who gave me input!

Done about a billion errandy things now that I am more mobile. Feeling much more caught up and super optimistic about the new year. Still have tons more to do before I leave for Vegas. I thought about cancelling the New Year’s portion of my trip because I was worried about my foot, but sometimes ya just have to say what the heck. Also, the reservations were semi-nonrefundable and I thought it would be obnoxious to cancel the beginning of my trip after going medieval on my travel agent for screwing up the end of my trip. Needless to say, she fixed it, so I figure she deserves the commission even if I just chill in my room.

Does anyone know a good nonelectronic way to send payments to people in Europe?

I am so looking forward to seeing so many friends in Sin City. I hope I can still tear it up okay. I need to buy new shoes. Hoping I get doc’s approval to wear a shoe on my right foot instead of this freaking giant medical appliance. I know I should have decorated it or something, but that just seemed to smack of pessimism.

Off to take a salt bath. My skin has so suffered while I was laid off and deserves a bit of extra TLC now.
