Bio

Amelia G helms Blue Blood which is a content production, packaging, and publishing company. She started off with punk humor zine BLT in 1990 and counterculture lifestyle and erotica magazine Blue Blood magazine in 1992. Amelia G now manages multiple production teams of varying sizes in creating both branded and white label print and digital products. These products range from books and magazines to web sites and e-mags and e-books to general content strategy and marketing. She oversees the operations of an extended network of entertainment sites and manages the cutting-edge affiliate program SpookyCash. Amelia G’s B2B internet properties have received coverage in venues ranging from adult internet trade magazines to Forbes. Amelia G has authored thousands of articles on pop culture and pop culture’s intersection with commerce.

Her undergraduate academic background is in English and social psychology and she received Honors at Wesleyan University for her thesis on vampire legends as a paradigm for aggressive human sexuality. She received Honors in her Masters degree at University of Michigan as well. Amelia G’s fiction is regularly honored in best of anthologies including Best American Erotica, Best S/M Erotica, and Best Women’s Erotica. Locus has described her science fiction genre work as poignant.

As a photographer, in partnership with Forrest Black, Amelia G has dozens of magazine covers and thousands of pages of editorial to her credit. She has done music journalism in print, radio, and internet, interviewing and/or photographing members of more than one hundred bands ranging from old school luminaries Taime Downe and Anthony Kiedis to superstars of tomorrow Andy LaPlegua and Adam Lambert.

Amelia G is a popular interview subject herself and has been interviewed for television networks including MTV, FOX, and HBO, major newspapers including The Washington Post and The New York Times, repeat radio appearances on Playboy Radio and other stations, and countless magazines. With her engaging insightful personality and entertaining straightforward public speaking style, Amelia G’s convention panels always bring out good audiences at conferences such as DragonCon, World Fantasy, and SXSW, where she is often called upon to share her expertise on writing, editing, sex media, niche identification, creative distribution channels, traffic management, and internet marketing.

You could throw a rock at any magazine stand and hit one they have shot for. Their own magazine, Blue Blood, has been out of print now for many years, but their home on the web is still going strong. Amelia has been writing for and photographing alternative lifestyles since the 80s. She is an expert on all things underground, fun, and spooky. MTV, the New York Times, and countless other organizations have called upon her expertise when doing stories on subjects such as Vampires, Gothic culture, and dark erotica. Aside from this interview, I first met Amelia and Forrest at a comic convention in the late 90s. I was a little too shy to approach them with the idea of working with them at the time; and it was a total shock to me when Amelia contacted me in 2003 asking if I would like to be a part of the Blue Blood family. We have been working together since 2004. They really believe in what they are doing, and they make it fun while doing it . . .
