Mortis Mortavius Shoots DragonCon 2011

I was very active in East Coast fandom from the time I was very underage (but old enough to get into mischief), until I moved to California. It was a lot of fun. I tended to spell shirt L-I-N-G-E-R-I-E and regularly get in trouble with con security over my (lack of) attire and non-peacebonded weapons. This also meant I got photographed a lot. So I’ve seen a fair amount of convention photography, even if that meant more viewing portfolios on the front end, more than ever actually getting to see the pictures of me at cons. (Except for Kim from Virginia who rules.) Once I started selling a lot of fiction and publishing first BLT and then Blue Blood, I got hassled less, but it was still super fun. I sort of thought that they allowed for more bad behavior when I was a guest or exhibitor, except that my friend author Shariann Lewitt always got grief for her leather-jacketed ways.

West Coast fandom is just different. Please, nobody start yapping about Comic Con right . . .

Bloody Tattooed Halloween Jen Vixen (PICS)

Forrest Black and I always enjoy shooting gooey sets. I am always a huge fan of making a giant mess. I got vanilla-flavored for this, but Halloween Jen Vixen is one of the few people who doesn’t like the taste of vanilla. It was fun anyway and she looks totally hot. This is her 14th Blue Blood VIP appearance. Whole series, of course, in the Blue Blood VIP.

Alecia Joy Icons (PICS)

Alecia Joy posted to Blue Blood VIP in a set by your truly and Forrest Black called Icons. Forrest Black and I had a great time with her shooting and you all should expect to see lots more of her. Readers will be seeing some select images from this shoot in the forthcoming issue of Marquis, but Blue Blood VIP members get to see the whole thing. Here is a great anecdote excerpted from the Marquis #51 feature on Alecia Joy: recently, Alecia Joy got some metal grinding training for GrindKore from Perish, who we covered in Marquis #43. Alecia Joy is a trooper and she has the scars to prove it, because the show must go on. At a recent, “metal grinding performance [she] ended up giving [herself] a grind burn when a drunk person’s head came dangerously close. It was a reflex to pull away when [she] saw the bald head flying by, so [she] pulled the grinder away and consequently missed the metal on [her] outfit and ground two lines into [her] inner thigh. [She] finished the performance and rinsed it out, but metal shards were embedded. Alecia adds that “the owner of the club came by and gave [her] a bunch of drink tickets, but all [she] wanted was for the fire in [her] leg to subside! Part of [her] wanted to sit out the performance [she] was supposed to do after that, but [she] found that the fake blood in the kiddy pool actually soothed the burn.” Best use for a kiddy pool full of blood. Ever.

Nineteen Eight hour countdown to the Gothic.net party tonight!

A few more kickass things:

The event is 18+ (not 21+), which means you only have to be eighteen-years-old to attend. One of the reasons for holding the party at this venue is that they are extra-cool about this.

Blue Blood’s Forrest Black and Amelia G will be doing a digital gallery show. The artwork projected on the walls will be portraiture of many denizens of the dark and fabulous, some of whom will be in attendance.

BOOM! Studios has given us a ton of great books giveaways. There is stuff from a number of their darker lines, including the 28 Days Later series, the Cthulu Tales series, Disney’s Alice in Wonderland, and . . . [drum roll please!] issue #1 of the new Clive Barker Hellraiser comic. That’s right! Clive Barker is doing a new Hellraiser story in comic book form. There are multiple cover designs, one with art by Clive Barker, one with work by Tim Bradstreet, and one by Nick Percival. The Hellraiser comic books are not available in stores until Wednesday, but a couple dozen lucky Gothic.net VIPs are going to get a copy of issue number one at the Gothic.net party. Clive Barker + Hellraiser + issue #1 = a very cool collectible . . .

Luci in Devil Horns with Rats – Super Cute Rats (PICS)

This is the 5th collaboration between yours truly and Forrest Black and Luci which has appeared in the Blue Blood VIP. Full series in the members VIP as always. Luci makes a lot of her own clothes and has two of the cutest pet rats ever. Shooting Luci was great and I love shooting artists like her.

Crash and Voltaire (PICS)

I just posted this to Gothic Babes and thought I’d share here too:

Because a few sets of my photographic work generally post every week (not even counting the tons of other photographers Blue Blood publishes), I always want to post more here. So, today I’m going to post a favorite image from two sets Forrest Black and I shot, one of Crash and one of Voltaire.

Info about the clothing designers and all that good stuff in the Blue Blood Contributers Blog, along with TONS of FREE SAMPLE PICS. Both of these are magazine shots, but four full sets of Crash and a fabulous twenty-two full sets of Voltaire are in the Blue Blood VIP now.

PS If, in this terrible terrible economy, there is anyone still getting paid to slack off at work and read LJ, nobody who actually works for a living (or wishes they had a job now) wants to hear any whining about NSFW in a community already tagged as adult.

Yolanda Fuzzy Piggies Slippers (PICS)

I’m sitting here wearing fuzzy tiger paw slippers, in honor of the extremely brief winteresque time period in Hollywood. So it seems only fitting to post this series including Yolanda showing off her fuzzy pink piggies slippers. Forrest Black and I had the pleasure of shooting a few sets with Yolanda in her living room, on this particular day. We shot everything standard high saturation film, cross-processed film, and digital. The digital appears to be corrupt, but I’m pleased to share the film with you all. This is the more standard film process and I’ll post some crossed stuff later as well, which should be especially interesting for the photographers among y’all. Whole series in the Blue Blood VIP as always.

Chachie and Ducky Von Ghoulie Deathrock Horror Punk (PICS)

Forrest Black and I first met Ducky Von Ghoulie from the Fuzzbats and his lovely bride Chachie at the old school deathrock club Release the Bats in California. The setting for this shoot is Ducky and Chachie’s real life living room. Ducky says he collects all the horror films and models and posters and other memorabilia in his impressive collection because it turns him on. What better reason! This is some of my favorite sort of work to shoot and Forrest Black and I really enjoyed creating art with Ducky and Chachie. Whole series in the Blue Blood VIP as always.

Deathrock TJ Van Shock and Secret Sin (PICS)

Forrest Black and I were thrilled to collaborate with two such awesome individuals as TJ Van Shock and Secret Sin for this photo shoot. In our artistic exuberance, we used two different kinds of film and we shot some digital as well. Which means that we shot work of them together with three different color palettes. This is probably a more common approach for magazine work, but, after some contemplation, I feel like Blue Blood VIP members deserve to get that magazine quality, so I’m going to share the variety of formats. I think this first film sequence is really erotic. Blue Blood VIP membes will of course be familiar with Secret Sin. TJ Van Shock you should know from his stints in Fearcult, Radio Scarlet, and other fine deathrock bands. Or you might recognize him from the Christina Aguilera music video for her song “Beautiful”. We’ve got some beautiful for y’all here.

Kellie LaPlegua AMF Couture Lemon Tree (PICS) Spooky for Halloween

The very talented Louis Fleischauer stayed up all night before this shoot, creating this extravagant piece of wearable art on the theme of tongues speaking from all angles. If you have the most recent issue of Marquis magazine, then you have seen Kellie LaPlegua modeling this and sharing some of her most appalling domination dungeon tales, but Blue Blood VIP members get to see the whole series. The pets belong to Bradical; I had a concept for incorporating them, but Kellie is a way way better model than Bradical’s pets.

Nina Sin Headgear Bondage (PICS)

Forrest Black and I shot Nina Sin showing off bondage gear from Noir Leather and held off posting the whole series here because a shot from the shoot was going to run in Marquis. So Marquis readers have already had a taste of what Nina looks like with her beautiful big eyes and a giant headgear bondage bit in her mouth. Blue Blood VIP members get to see the whole series.

Yolanda Skull Armor (PICS)

This series Forrest Black and I shot of Yolanda is sort of a companion piece to the most recent Erotic Fandom update. The skull armor Yolanda is wearing here, as well as the chainmail skirt, is also from Retail Slut. Her hair is courtesy of the fine folks at Diva Luxe. I’m happy I feel like we managed to capture Yolanda’s sleek elegance well. Whole series of all 33 Yolanda Blue Blood appearances in the Blue Blood VIP.

Fedora Soft Mohawk (PICS)

For the past two years, Fedora has been tripping around the country, shooting pictures and having pictures shot of her. On one of her jaunts through Los Angeles, Forrest Black and I had the pleasure of shooting this fun series with her. I feel like this shoot really shows off both her playful fun personality and her impressive flexibility. Whole series in the Blue Blood VIP or Barely Evil!

Spiders from Mars (PICS)

With the silver makeup and futuristic glam armor from Retail Slut in this outfit, I like to think of this series Forrest Black and I shot as the Spiders from Mars shoot. I love metal clothing. I decided I kind of liked this image from the nude portion of the shoot as the one shot I could share though, so y’all will have to sign up for Erotic Fandom or Blue Blood VIP to see the metal spider top.
