I love the contrast between Franccesca de Struct‘s soft classic features and strong goth-industrial look in this series and we went with a color palette to accentuate this. This is the 4th set Forrest Black and I shot of the stunning Franccesca de Struct for the Blue Blood VIP. Members get to, ya know, see the whole 128 picture shebang of sexy goth-industrial goodness.

28 Hours To Go, 354 Likes, Editing Film, Deathrock Book Almost a Hardcover
I posted this update about editing the film to our California Deathrock book Kickstarter pages and I wanted to share it here too. I eventually did find the needed art pencils. They were in a pencil drawer, along with an inexplicable neurological pinwheel.
Forrest and I are getting ready to start going through contact sheets today. Thanks to our awesome backers, we know we are definitely going to be able to do the book, so we want to get a head start on editing film.
It has been so long since I got to work with negatives and contact sheets that I am having trouble finding any of my grease art pencils to mark the contact sheets with. I’m still hopeful that a search will uncover my stash, but I might have to go get a couple from the camera store. Hopefully they still carry traditional tools.
We’re going to try both the library and a coffeehouse with big tables and see which is more comfortable to go through contact sheets in.
Thanks so so so much to everyone who has supported this project so far. If we hit $2,200, the book is definitely going to be hardcover and it seems promising that it will.
Today we start editing film!

California Deathrock Behind-the-Scenes Photo Shoot Video
LJ is finicky about video embeds, so we had to transfer this vid to YouTube and use the legacy code, but here it is now
California Deathrock Behind-the-Scenes Photo Shoot Video

It was hard to make this video happen because working on it was giving me the hugest spasm of shyness. Fortunately, Forrest Black and I still managed to bust it out. So now you can see behind-the-scenes footage of what our nightlife portraiture shoots look like, as part of the Kickstarter for our California Deathrock book project.
I love the idea of doing a creative project where I know how many to print beforehand. The way Kickstarter is set up, people pledge to get a copy of the book, but Amazon only charges them after the funding period is complete (in this case the end of the first week of June) and then only if the project is 100% funded. So far, our photo book project is 88% funded, so it looks like it is going to happen, which I am super happy and more than a little relieved about.
Special thanks to Death Guild and Release the Bats where some of this video was shot. Much love to Margo, Satoki, Thee Gabe, Domiana, Kat, Thistle (RIP), Talia, Christian, Jenn Bats, Dave Bats, Shane Taleda, Matt Riser, Eva O, and everyone else in the contact sheets and photos and video footage.
Anyway, just push play already please

Happy Halloween, everyone! Razor Candi and photographer Bodó Janos Attila did Halloween up nicely for the Blue Blood VIP this year. VIP members get to enjoy the whole shoot, but we also have a free deathrock Halloween photo gallery right . . .

Chachie and Ducky Von Ghoulie Deathrock Horror Punk (PICS)
Forrest Black and I first met Ducky Von Ghoulie from the Fuzzbats and his lovely bride Chachie at the old school deathrock club Release the Bats in California. The setting for this shoot is Ducky and Chachie’s real life living room. Ducky says he collects all the horror films and models and posters and other memorabilia in his impressive collection because it turns him on. What better reason! This is some of my favorite sort of work to shoot and Forrest Black and I really enjoyed creating art with Ducky and Chachie. Whole series in the Blue Blood VIP as always.
Deathrock TJ Van Shock and Secret Sin (PICS)
Forrest Black and I were thrilled to collaborate with two such awesome individuals as TJ Van Shock and Secret Sin for this photo shoot. In our artistic exuberance, we used two different kinds of film and we shot some digital as well. Which means that we shot work of them together with three different color palettes. This is probably a more common approach for magazine work, but, after some contemplation, I feel like Blue Blood VIP members deserve to get that magazine quality, so I’m going to share the variety of formats. I think this first film sequence is really erotic. Blue Blood VIP membes will of course be familiar with Secret Sin. TJ Van Shock you should know from his stints in Fearcult, Radio Scarlet, and other fine deathrock bands. Or you might recognize him from the Christina Aguilera music video for her song “Beautiful”. We’ve got some beautiful for y’all here.
